Among stuccoes, frescoes and crystals, the most sumptuous rooms are those covered with gilded, dark brown leather panels embossed following an age-old technique imported from Muslim Spain and then refined further by the local craftsmen. In the old days, there were more than seventy workshops manufacturing the elegant leather panels, painted with flowery and animal patterns, destined to decorate the walls of aristocratic rooms with the fascination of remote lands.
